UP and to the RIGHT: Strategy and Tactics of Analyst Influence
The first book on analyst influence that focuses on the Gartner Magic Quadrant. Written by industry veteran and former VP Research at Gartner, Richard Stiennon.
From its launch in 2012 UP and to the RIGHT quickly became the Bible of industry analyst relations.
Early reviwers were effusive in their praisefor UP and to the RIGHT:
The very first unsolicited reaction was from Steve Blood, a Gartner VP Research, he tweeted:
"Just finished reading @stiennon Up and to the right. IMHO as one still on the inside, a must read for any AR or Mkting pro"
And then another Gartner analyst, Dr. Anton Chuvakin, VP Research at Gartner, wrote a full review here.
Chuvakin, universally acknowledged as a tough reviewer, used the term “awesomeness” when he first tweeted about the book. In his review he said "I wish every vendor client read this book and followed some of the advice given there."
Tweet from Anton Chuvakin:
"Just finished reading @stiennon book and it is full of awesomeness. Go UP and to the RIGHT!!"
That was followed by a rave review by Ben Rothke posted to Slashdot of all places.
Since its publication many tech vendors have applied the advice provided in UP and to the RIGHT to improve their relationship with Gartner.
Stiennon has gone on to create the Quadrant Seminar, a one day session taylored to each organization which is in high demand. He also provides Quadrant Coaching to some of the largest vendors in the technology space.
